Greetings
I will try to answer as much as I can here.
MATERIAL-
The 13 oz kilts are about 4.2+- yards (I did a quick tape measure test
The 16 oz are about 6.8+-
(Of course this depends on the waist size large kilts require more material)
BUCKLES AND STRAPS
we have a 13 oz with 3 buckles and a few with 2 (we are dropping the 2 buckle vendor so only have a few left)
All the 16 oz have 3 buckles
PLEATS ON HIP
16 oz are sewn down on the hips, the 13 oz are not
APRON
it appears to me that the aprons are not tapered
LINING
The 16 oz have linings, the 13 oz ??? I will have to check but I think they do but are a smaller lining then the 16 oz.
BELT LOOPS
There are 2 or 3 belt loops. don ask me why some have 2 some have 3. they are 2 7/8 opening
HEM

As I mentioned before we deal with 3 vendors in pakistan and have started to look at china for some wool/poly wool/poly/viscose poly/viscose blends for material. We did deal with 4 vendors but one (who will remain nameless) took our order for 70 plus kilts in december and to date we have received 1 kilt. We just started getting our own tag inside the kilts - I suppose the story has been told and it is true that we received a few kilts that had another vendors name in them.
our plans as it stands now is to do 28 weekend games next year starting in January in Florida 08 and running through November 08
For tartans we are now carrying
AndersonBlack WatchCameronDouglasFlower of ScotlandMacDougallCochranGordonGrant HuntingHunting StewartKeithMacDonald DressMacIntosh HuntingMacKenzieMacLeod DressMacLeod HarrisModern MackenziePride of ScotlandRobertsonRoyal StewartWallaceScottish NationalRoyal Stewart, Hunting Stewart, Black Watch, Clark/Clergy, MacPherson Dress, MacPherson Ancient, Ancient Cameron of Erracht, Isle of Skye soon, keith Soon, Douglas soon, MacDougal Soon, Wallace, Buchanan Modern, Gordon, Dress Gordon, Mackenzie,
and a few others
We have shawls, fly plaids, sgian dhu, chanters, some very poorly made kilt hose we have been giving away (we are trying to get a better vendor),belts, buckles, flashes, Ghillie shirts..incoming soon, headwear, and we can get formal jackets made to order.
Custom kilts - We have been ordering a minimum of 150 kilts every month since december so it is very easy when we place an order to request the weaver make it to a certain size...yes it cost us a few dollars more and we charge a few dollars more..but lets face it not everybody is a 24 drop. the largest we have made is a 26 the shortest an 18 (I never ask questions)
Did I forget to mention we also sell LOW COST Bagpipes!!!
Also we are going to run the WRITE AND ADVERTISEMENT FOR EBAY and win a custom kilt until mid June.. then we will post the top three ads and let Xmark members vote on the best one.
We are growing and we are going to grow and be successful because we are going to provide excellent service, with affordable products, and offer services that others do not want to offer or can not offer. When we screw up we are going to make things right. A couple of my favorite quotes from ebay customers-
1. situation resolved fairly, thanks
2. Best customer service I've seen anywhere, in or out of eBay! Beautiful kilt!
Customer service really means something when you screw up. When things are going perfect everybody loves you...it is when the post office loses a package, or you forget to ship something, or your supplier ships 15 days late when you have to shine and make sure the customer gets their kilt for the wedding, festival, or prom!
Sometimes you have to overnight a kilt pay the $47 yourself to make sure a customer is happy.
Of course i am still waiting for the first really bad ebay comment - it has to happen sooner or later
So far worst was a lady that gave us the wrong shipping address
Any Way-if you have any needs comments or suggestions
you can contact me at 612-812-KILT Mark W (I made the guy search for 5 minutes to get me that number) or Mark B 612-8653146
oh- we just got in a bunch of black watch kilts with 26 inch drops

Mark,
If you are coming to Florida in 2008 let me Know. I will see about getting the Egypt Shriners Highlanders Pipe and Drum Band to come play at your tent. Also if you need a place to store a trailer between events, I can help.
I don't know if you have any dates yet but here's a few. Nov. 17, 2007 Celtic Festival Dunedin, FL., January 12, 2008 Ft. Lauderdale, FL., January 19, 2008 Winter Spring (north of Orlando) FL., Also during the winter are Southeast, Panama City, Gulf Coast, Brandon, Jacksonville, Sarasota and Zephyrills too name a few.
I also mailed a money order out Tuesday, for two kilts and a sporran, I look forward recieving them.

Mark,
Thank you for the information. Please post a picture of one of your kilts in the Isle of Skye tartan when you get them in.

We did not ordered any kilts in the IOS- just material, we just got a confirmation for 125 yards...And I think we will have to order another 125 yards. I think 16 oz IOS will be next but right now we are at max capacity, we ordered over 280 kilts in march and justy placed another order for 38 custom orders and 125 stock (24 inch drops)
SO A FEW QUESTIONS TO THE FORUM MEMBERS
1. how much of a demand is there for larger then 44 waist? And would it be better to custom make them or stock them in 24 inch drop.
2. Would you be more likely to purchase a kilt only or a package deal with sporran, pin etc....
3. Kids kilts - is there enough demand do you think to stock a few dozon
3.

Cheap kids kilts are a bit hard to find. I can find >$150 kids kilts everywhere but who wants to spend that on something the kid will outgrow in 6 months? I don't know what the general demand is but I have been looking for a few.

ok, so my "kids" are 15 and 17 so have not had little ones in some time. what waist to drop size would be good to carry.. what would a waist / drop be for a 6 year old, 8, 10, 12...

Well, first time buyers (such as myself) would most likely go for the full package (as I did). Additional kilts, and existing kilt owners, would just likely go for the kilt-only deals. In the future, for instance, I may order a 13oz to compliment the 16oz i've already ordered....

Mark, just to clarify - the 13oz IOS you ordered is in polyviscose thread, correct? You originally posted this info on the 13 oz p/v thred. So far we have never seen 16oz p/v. Wouldn't want to confuse things.
thanks

Mark,
1. I don't know anyone with a waist larger than 44" who wears a kilt. I think custom making them would be the way to go.
2. I would be more likely to buy a kilt only. Those new to kilting would probably go for a package deal when buying their first kilt.
3. Several X-Markers have expressed a desire for inexpensive kids kilts. Most sons want to dress like Daddy. I have no kids so I am no help on sizing.

I got lucky the other day and ordered a kilt size 52" at the navel. The company had it in stock and was the reason I ordered it from them. I wish I was not that size, but thats another story.
