I still can't imagine getting anything wool. If I can't wash it, I don't want it.

Dirka---so far, that's the ONLY real hickey I've found.

Then again, you CAN wash wool---you just have to be more careful about it (yeah, I hate that too).

For someone that enjoys red wine, that's some good advice. Thanks Turpin.

I have also heard that white wine will wash out red wine, but not vice versa

I'm in the process of getting my first tartan. It will be 16 oz worsted wool. But since it will take four months, I'm considering ordering one of the PVs as well. Not only availability but also something to wear in the casual environment. What do you think, I'm I wasting my money?

Not at all. I am a huge fan of wool kilts, but I started with PV kilts and I will always have a place for them. The PV that Rocky (USA kilts) and Pete (Canadian Casual Kilts) use is stain resistant, machine washable, and bloody comfy. It eliminates that red wine worry all together. My 4 Yard MacKenzie PV from Bear kilts has been punished in a big way at the Vancouver kilt nights and it still looks great. When wool won't do, PV is the logical next choice.

I'm thinking maybe I should find the funds for a maple leaf kilt from pete. Red wine wouldn't show on that puppy

May Suggest, my dear turpin that in future, for you to avoid spilling anymore red wine (or other spirits for that matter) that you keep your mouth shut!

    Somehow, I doubt it . . .

It didn't work on me either!

What Colin said! Don, with a good poly-viscose, you don't give up hardly anything to wool. It's thinner and lighter, and you don't want to juggle burning torches while wearing it, but otherwise you are ALL to the good.

In my experience good PV breathes pretty well, insulates pretty well, swishes pretty well and hangs out pretty well. It's wash and wear, vice wool, which wins it points, but it loses when you play with fire.

Marton Mills' PV is GOOD STUFF, MAYNARD!

No, you are not wasting your money. Get a PV kilt for everyday wear and save the wool kilt for special occasions.
