Hi again all. I've been away on holidya for a bit.

I wore this new X-kilt on my backpacking trip over the Canada Day long weekend. For various reasons, I did not wear it on the hike in, but put it on for the trip back out to the car.

We met a number of hikers on the trail and chatted about trail conditions, snow in camp, routes etc. No one made a comment whatsoever about the attire.

Then we met a group going up the trail on horses. After explaining to them that the trail was closed to equestrian use at a junction up ahead, and them suggesting that their horses may not be able to read the sign, one of the guys, says "nice skirt".

I told him it was a kilt, and that he'd been the first to comment on it all day. I mentioned that I kept waiting for the "where's you bagpipes?" question, but he seemed to miss the reference.

After a few more minutes of trail chat, their group headed up the trail with one final "nice skirt" thrown over the shoulder.

I was impressed witht he comfort of hiking in a kilt. I do need to find a belt of some sort with a buckle that is not going to get too much trouble by the backpack hip belt. I'm thinking of something made from webbing should work well in a backpack wearing situation.
