Very cool! I love museums, and since I can't afford a trip to this one in person, it's nice to see a bit of it!!

One of my strongest memories of Edinburgh from when I was a child was the museum. I remember being terrified of walking under the whale skeleton hanging from the ceiling.
I vaguely remember the swords, it's good to see them again.

Aye the "guillotine" was called "The Maiden" - gives a new meaning to that town in Berkshire - Maidenhead

But which museum is it? Cannot recall seeing these things in the National Museum in Chambers St, mind you it's a very long time since I last visited!

    Thanks for the photos.
I've never got time to go there when I'm in Edinburgh.

It is the National Museum of Scotland in Chambers Street. There is a modern extension (Prince Charles didn't like it) almost totally given over to Scottish artefacts going back to pre-historic times. Very interesting. They still have the stuffed animals and usual general museum stuff in the original part, and entrance is free which appeals to my Scottish sensibilities.

Thanks Phil - I said it has been a long time so must include the Museum on a future visit very soon!
