Hellow from Southern California. I always say Southern California, cause it's really like there are two states anyway.

Well, I am loyal to my Chief.. I follow his guidance in what I can and cannot wear with my kilt. Fortunately, he is very laid back and says we can wear any tartan we like, except at clan functions when we must wear an official tartan recognised by him.

I actually have four "short", kilts, pictured above, and two great kilts. I don't wear the great kilts often because they are a pain to re-wrap. All my kilts are of the 11 ounce, MacGregor green and red tartan.

My advice to a newbie? If you're a member of a clan, be loyal to your Chief. Otherwise wear the kilt/tartan of your choice. But, that's just my opinion.. and I'm quite old-fashioned.
