Well, the seller mentioned he has a Utilikilt and a couple of Stillwaters, along with the traditional kilt in the Hume tartan that he sold. He had been waiting to get a custom-made traditional kilt and finally did so -- in the same tartan as the one he sold. Not the choice I would have made -- I would have bought the custom kilt in a *new* tartan and kept the old one! I guess most people here would have done that too, but replacing the old one and selling it (thus defraying the cost of the new tank) is a perfectly legitimate decision.

Besides *I* am perfectly happy to get the used kilt, so it will have a good home anyway!

I also suggested that the seller check out xmarks too. So maybe he'll show up here.

I saw your monicker as the winner last night. Congratulations. that looks like a nice tartan, and $100 for a good kilt is always a plus.

Actually this will be my first 8-yard kilt. I have a good 5-yard model, made by Geoffrey Tailor. I was interested in getting a custom kilt, but wasn't really sure how much I'd wear an 8-yarder and so I wasn't really comfortable laying out $400-$500 for one. Thus the looking on ebay. This seems perfect to me as I made only a moderate investment and got a great-looking kilt. If I really like the heavier kilt then I can go shopping for a better one sometime later. Of course I would still keep this one too

    apack,
turpin and I both got Bucannan Kilts from ebay.
Mine is a 8yard Geoffrey (The scrapper) Tailor and it was a great deal but it took me a year and 1/2 to find one that would fit and then it is a little long but it is still a great find. I'm sure you will enjoy your new kilt like I enjoy mine.
