So I'm in Galway now, and I've made a few friends, some of whom happen to be rather attractive girls. Now, I'm a 6'1", 230 lb, 20 y.o. rugby player with red hair. Kinda imposing. My new friends walk through this pub in Galway called The Hole In The Wall (I now realize why they call it that--never go there!) and as we're walking in, a guy grabs my friend's..uhhh..rear end. She turns to him a says "Stop it!" he just says "Wow, the b***h has claws!"
Haha--no. I stepped in, saying "I think you owe her an apolo-" and before I can finish my sentence, I get a fist in the eye.
Nice.
So I kick out his knee, he goes to the ground, I give him a few more kicks and ask his friends if they care to join in. They don't say much, and my group of friends leave. Sure, I had a black eye for the next week, but these guys can't think that their inexcusable behavior won't come back to them.

Let's please not let things wander into ethnic/immigrant arguments. Sounds like this was a young guy out with his mates who was feeling cocky and shooting his mouth off. If we get caught at a loss for words and make a crack that's a little "off sides" in the ethnic department when looking for a rejoinder, then that's unfortunate...but it happens...it doesn't make us bad people but we should all try to keep it on a personal basis and not stray into stereotyping.
As I said earlier, that's where having a rich and colorful collection of profanities and perjoratives comes in handy...you can call anybody everything under the sun and still not venture into ethnic references.
...and Beloitpiper is right...he is a big 'un and that fella obviously misjudged both his size and his sense of righteousness when he took a swing at him.
But as Rodney King once said, "Why can't we just all get along?"
Best

In situations like this I use what I call “The Look” others have referred to it as “Crazy Guy” or as my beloved puts it “The Serial Killer Look”. I can’t tell you how to do It. It is a none verbal thing. A step into their space, a slight smile. and an,” when ever you are ready attitude” is my best guess.. No talking, no clever rebuttal, just the look. In 60 plus years It has worked every time.

on a 'lighter' note, a scotsman whilst kilted, made the mistake of sitting on his torch, he went to the doctor and asked his prognosis, 'well Jock,it looks pretty bad, but not to worry'
'what d'ya mean not to bloody worry?!' Jock exclaimed.
'Well', said the doctor, 'there's light at the end of the tunnel!'
