I would definitely agree that I like #2 the most, but i also agree that I would work at it just a bit more. Maybe change the shade of blue, and like someone else suggested adding a little black line as an accent. I think it looks great though. I would buy one when it's done but my girlfriend would freaking kill me. She's a HUGE ASU fan. Maybe I could just tell her that it's a USA tartan, since it has red/white/ and blue in it.

Okay, it was close, but I prefered Number 1 to Number 2. But then, I've never even been in Arizona!

Or seach out an existing tartan, Hamilton (yeah I know thats the USCG tartan and you're all Navy) of American Heritage (black is most predominant).

Since we're mostly looking for something to wear to IceCats games, we'll probably do just that... and I have tremendous respect for the Coasties, even if I wouldn't admit it in public.

But playing with the tartan generator is fun, and maybe we'll come up with something we like well enough to have a few yards woven, and I'll make X-Kilts for us. Or, maybe I'll also come up with Lumberjacks and Sun Devils tartans, and have a side business offering kilts to 'Zonars.

These are a definite improvement over your first design, but looking at #1 and #2 - do a tartan search on "American," "American Eagle," "American Bicentennial," "American St. Andrews" - your tartan's already been woven.
