Hey, Ron! Glad to hear you may make it!
I posted this thread earlier today before I noticed your posting from last weekend.

As for what to do, I'd recommend getting to the games at least by 1100 MST so you don't miss the opening ceremonies with the massed pipe bands & the march of the clans; then I was suggesting any X-Markers there meet at the geneology tent at 1300 MST; & finally, don't forget the Kilt Night for the Zonie Rabble after the Games on Saturday at the Scottsdale Tilted Kilt at 1900 MST.
As for what tartan to wear, yeah, that's probably a bit of a dillema when you have as many kilts as you! I'm planning on wearing my Arizona tartan (appropriately). I'd say a clan tartan is always fitting or your Isle of Skye tartan would be eye-catchingly unique.
Drop me a PM if there's anything else I can help with; I'll be looking for you!

Thanks Retro,
missed your post.
Have to work Friday so looks bleak for 1100 Sat. Have to go through Hopi to pick up my lady then down through Winslow and Payson...a long haul. Will be there somewhere though.
Have a Tilted Kilt jacket now so maybe Sat night. Have to look up the addy. North Scottsdale if I remember...?

For your convenience, Ron (& anyone else going to the Tilted Kilt after the Games), here's MapQuest directions from MCC to the Scottsdale Tilted Kilt.

If you're coming down later on Saturday, will you be going to the Games on Sunday? My friend & I plan on going both days. The closing ceremony is at 1530 MST on Sunday, so there'd be time to catch that & then make it back to Page before it's too late, say around 2030-2100 MST (at least from a night owl's perspective).

Thanks for the map.
Just not sure yet, may try to make Hopi Friday and start from there, saves three hours from my place.
Unlikely we'll be there Sunday. Anyone wanting an adrenaline rush can drive the Rez roads at night...I've learned not to. Its open range...truely open range...but more sheep, goats, horses than cattle...
Bringing my shopping list for the vendors. Mostly a few kilt pins and kilt hose colors. I do love the cash and carry aspect of highland games...don't have to endure the "out of stock, coming from Scotland...someday" routine.

Still planning on being there - but will depend on the weather in Flagstaff...possible storms according to the weather guessers.
Will be short and sweet for us...just a shopping foray. Will aim for the genealogy tent. Look for a long haired fat guy in a replica RAF jacket and RAF tartan kilt.
Gonna pass on the Tilted Kilt. Gonna have dinner with friends of hers and head back up the hill early Sunday.
