MacWage...an all nun bagpipe band would be VERY cool! Unfortunately, I'm the only "pipesndrumsnun" I know. We have some nun organists, pianists, and guitar players....but those pianos and organs are just too difficult to push down the street!

In THAT case . . .
Black Stewart, HANDS DOWN.
It is a striking, common, and "universal" tartan. So, there would be NO issues for the band members wearing it otherwise.
Also, it will/should be continually easy to get and fairly easy to "trade-up" to nicer ones later (if desired) and STILL have a commonly stocked tartan, in ANY price or quality level.
Plus, it would be STRIKING for a band.
