I have a Casual from USA Kilts and I love it, especially during the summer down here in Florida (very hot and humid). USAK's workmanship and customer service are very good. USAK kilts are custom made for the buyer. Rocky and Kelly try hard to give you what you want.

Poly viscose is a woven 11-ounce material with a Telfon coating to resist staining and is machine washable. Don't use fabric softener. Dry Cleaning pv is not advised because this will remove the pv's Telfon coating.

Being a lightweight material, it doesn't have the body and wrinkle resistence of 13 ounce (mediumweight) or 16 ounce (heavyweight) wool. However, pv doesn't wrinkle or wear as easily as other man-made materials, like acrylic. Also, pv is smoother to the touch (less scratchy) than wool. PV seems to breathe better than wool and synthetic materials, so it will keep you cooler during the summer months.

I have both a semo-trad and a casual from USAK, and will likely buy more from them in the future. The PV matrerial is great. Throw it in the washer, hang it up and you are ready to go. No ironing normally required. The semi-trad is just cut higher at the waist.

I own two USAKilts casuals and a semi-traditional. (Plus a custom job in denim.) All of them are top-quality. The PV material is good and durable; though not heavyweight, it won't flutter in a mild breeze, either.

If you're already leaning toward the semi, go ahead and get it. The causals have the ease-of-use advantage (permanent pleats, easy fit) while the semi has more heft and looks better.

And USAKilts customer service is also top-notch.

I have a modern Gordon semi-traditional from Rocky. It is one of my favorite kilts for the hottest part of summer. It is well made and is worth what Rocky charges. My only complaint is that it doesn't have as much cloth in it as I expected, but then Rocky doesn't sell kilts by the yardage. That varies according to how the kilt is pleated (sett or stripe), and the measurements of the individual for whom it is made, so it's not really that big a complaint. One other thing, mine is a USA traditional, but I think the only difference is a name change in their product line several months ago.

Rocky and Kelly's work is first class and their kilts represent good value for money. They offer great customer service and are always happy to talk to you on the phone if ou have any questions. I have two Semi-Traditionals from them and they are a joy to wear, especially in warm weather. The PV fabric is more prone to wrinkle than wool but a quick pass of a steamer makes them right as rain.

You can't go wrong with a USAK semi-trad. Rocky and Kelly do fantastic work, and I expect to get at least one more from them in the near future.

I was a late bloomer with USA Kilts. I'd read all these posts about how great their kilts were and think "yeah right." Figured they were just shilling for him or something. Just sounded too good to be true.

Then last fall, can't remember why, gave USA Kilts a whirl with a Thomson Gray Semi-traditional. Liked it, got an Ireland's National Semi-traditional from them. Liked it. Got a Macdonald Semi-Traditional from them.

Had three SportKilts and decided to compare the USA Kilt Casual to the SportKilt and in the process ordered a Maclean Hunting Casual. Liked it. In fact, was perfect for what I needed to wear to work and in the summer heat of the canyonlands. So ordered a USA Kilts Beccleuch, Fraser, and Gordon Modern.

I've gone from owning no USA Kilts to owning SEVEN of them in nine months. And I'm a happy camper....and probably soundling like a shill for Rocky and Kelly now. They make a quality product at a more than fair price.

The polyviscose material is Rayon and Polyesther. Rayon is synthetic cotton, been around for many years. Used a lot in Hawaiian shirts, but this sure doesn't have that loose drape feel. Under a textile glass the biggest difference between cotton/polyester and rayon/polyesther is there are fewer little fuzzy fibers sticking out so the USA Kilts don't have the soft pajama/underwear-like feel of cotton/poly.

I've worn my USA Kilts to work (12 hour days, mostly seated) and on long trips sitting in the car or boat. The wrinkles aren't noticeable to others when I'm wearing them. Nothing severe. When I take the USA Kilts off I usually have wrinkles at the top of the front apron from my Buddha belly and some on the pleats from sitting - but not noticable unless you're looking.

And, as mentioned before a quick blast from the steamer and they're gone. I do that before I hang them up for the next wearing.

If you wanna see pics of my USA Kilts check my gallery. There are sub albums by each kilt.

You can also do a search on this board for USA Kilts. Think if you look on the contemporary kilt forum you'll find the SportKilt comparison, which has a lot of info on USA Kilts.

Tread with caution though...it only takes one USA Kilt to activate the addiction.
