Oh, well his stage surname is Scottish. But he is Jewish. So I thought it would be funny to create a tartan using blue and white for him, based off a Stewart pattern.

Ah, I see! Interesting suggestion. But would the fact that he's a graduate of William & Mary have any influence on you?

    Jewish tartan...

Since Glasgow was/is home to many Jewish immigrants, especially in the Gorbals area of the city, I would recommend the Glasgow district tartan.

    Regards,

    Todd

Interesting! I suppose because of the long-term expulsion of Jews in England followed by anti-semitic statutes, I never really thought about Scotland housing a significant Jewish population. I've learned my new thing for today!

And no, Galician. I am never biased, especially not by his ties to my alma mater/hometown

    1st Glasgow Jewish

Here is a photo of the 155th Boy Scout Group (1st Glasgow Jewish):

Notice all of the kilts in the photo.

The photo is from the Scottish Jewish Archives Center, via www.theglasgowstory.com.

    Regards,

    Todd

Thanks for the photo! Any idea what became of them? And what tartan are they wearing? It is too hard to pick out any details in a B&W print.

I've resisted posting a particular comment to this thread, because I don't want to steer the thread in another direction that might get me in trouble with the MODS.

But since when has a person’s religion had anything to do with national origin?

Why is it assumed that you can’t be Jewish AND Scottish?

I say this because I have two Jewish friends; one a MacDermit and another a MacTavish.

Perhaps we should all stick to the subject of tartans rather than delving into the subject of religion.
