I have two Black Watch/Campbell kilts. One is a cheap synthetic (I'm not even sure what the material actually is... there's no tag) that I got for $50, and the other is a Canadian military issue 22 oz beast.

I'm a Campbell, so that explains the tartan choice.

I bought the cheap synthetic at the Pomona highland games because the price was right, I could look at it before buying it, and it was reasonably well made. Eveything lookd good. It had a decent selvage, the stitching looked decent, thebuckes and straps are of reasonable quality... It's even pleated to sett correctly!

I bought "the beast" as I affectionately call it, because it was a deal too good to pass up. One of the members here is in a pipe band, and they were selling their old uniform kilts to raise money for new ones. They had two left, one of which was my size. How often do you see a kilt of that quality for $100 shipped? I scrounged together the money, and now I am the proud owner of a military issue kilt, made in Glasgow in 1957.
