Why do you want to dress like Darth Vader?

Either look is great. I still think the dress shirt is more fitted to the wedding. Save the Jacobite for post wedding dress. But then again I am a real old person.
and of course from Boston, Massachusetts

I gotta go with Pour1Malt on this one. If you aren't wearing a tie, the plain shirt looks a bit . . .I hate to say slovenly at a somewhat dressy event; it just looks like you left work, took off the tie, and didn't much care how you looked.
Though I am almost always conservative, on this issue I do like the jacobite shirt, and I don't think it's particularly showy or costumy. Pour1 proves that above. If you're wearing all black, you're already making a sort of statement, so I vote for the jacobite if there's no tie.

I'm surprised no one else has asked this, but what does the fiance say about it? After all, her opinion should hold a lot more wieght in your decision than any of ours.

Indeed...
at the same time, & since you asked, a plain black band-collared shirt would look nice too!

If you're not wearing a tie, then I would wear the jacobite, although the banded collar mentioned earlier has merit.

I prefer the jacobite shirt, but I think both would look fine, since it sounds like more of a casual-look wedding. Wear what you both like.

You're a lucky man! Some of the members at XMTS would have to wear p***s to appease the MIL! Give you prospective MIL a hug from me!
And of course, welcome to XMTS, from Vancouver Island, B.C., Canada.
