I just love wearing black kilts. I have a formal 8-yard traditional wool kilt in all black which I wear with black hose for work (I am a part-time Magistrates' Court Assessor.) Also suitable for attending funerals. I also have a 4-yard kilt in a shadow tartan (Dark Island) similar to yours which I might wear with hose or with rugby socks. For casual wear around the house I also have a couple of cheap black polycotton goth kilts.

My first non-tartan traditional kilt was in black barathea - that was seven years ago. Now I have four black fabric kilts (plus one in black PVC and five in black leather!) one of which is the 'Hidden Tartan', similar to 'Black Isle', which came, like yours Ado from The Highland Store in London.
Black is an excellent choice for a non-tartan kilt because it can be so successfully dressed up to the nines formally or dressed down for the most basic of casual events.
Congratulations Ado, and welcome to 'X Marks the Scot'.

thx.
Hamish - I saw Your galery, really great pics.
I like best Your Black neo-trad Utilikilt and there is a new idea in my head:
I will buy the same kilt (if U don't mind of course) for my mountains outings.
we've got beautiful mountains in Poland (You are Scottish so You know what I'm talking about).
formerly I was mountain biker but since I crashed my bike walk more and think that this kind of kilt would be perfect for that occasion.
Gentelmen don't talk about money but... if U would be so kind (or anyone of U - my forum friends) and sell my this secret how much cost this kind of kilt it would be great.
thx for all replies.
have a nice day,
ado
