I don't know if Houston sells winter boot socks, but this time of year around these parts I see a lot of heavy, slighty taller, dark socks in the sporting goods and underthings departments. In a real pinch, you could go casual with boots and a pair of something like these.

    Good luck,
    Rex.

I was there in the fall, and I don't recall any kilt hose. But, I could be wrong... Worth a call at least.

I'm sure the Celtic Croft or the Scottish Tartans Museum have black kilt hose.

See if one or the other could do overnight shipping.

    Cheers

I agree if someone has them in stock I'm sure they could overnight then to you.

Target: for 4 bucks you can probably find some nice charcoal over-the-calf dress socks that will look decent. They'll stay up without garters, which is a good thing---my pair only gives up about 1 inch for a cuff. These, I actually did wear to church on Sunday.
I actually found a pair of OTC black socks in Target in the womens' section. Look by the lingere and there are lots of options. If you have huge calves this may not work, but for me and my skinny legs it was fine (especially at under $5 a pair!).

They won't go all the way up your calf, and they won't be able to fold over but for a good looking pair of grey wool socks get some Thorlo mountain climbing socks. Check your sporting goods or outdoors stores.
