I see you have alot of good answers to your question about kilts for Burns Night so I thought I would reply to your question of what the women wear. At the dinner we have attended most of the ladies wore some type of long kilted skirt with dressy white shirt or dark formal skirt, white shirt and their tartan pinned over the shoulder. Alas, I am of German desent and have no tartan to wear so I just wore a formal silk top and long black shirt. As long as what your lady wears is dressy, she will be fine.
