That being said, I'd love to have a kilt made from either of those! They're killer! I prefer the second one though.

Hmmmm, isn't it just the woman wearing a skirt in that picture? Personally I find Tommie's idea fascinating and wonderful, but I wonder if traditional Native America styles would work with a kilt, unless it were left unpleated. Then it might very well be a skirt!

So? There were South American tribes where the men wore skirts. They were just pieces of material sewn down the center. Simple, cool garments. I might wear one, if were made like an Amerikilt. I think I'd like that.

I agree with "so," but much has been made in this forum about distinguishing a kilt from a woman's skirt by the pleats. As I recall, Amerikilts do have pleats.
Pieces of cloth hanging over one's groin and posterior, on the other hand, can only be called a loincloth, which is in no way related to a kilt.

No doubt the one to the very right is a woman wearing what looks like a skirt, but most likely just a cloth wrap.
The one in the middle is wearing what looks like something the Spanish wore when they came up from Mexico.
The one to the left is wearing a breachcloth.(known by about twenty other names)
