Been doing some research for different kinds of themes,but finding the right kind of material that will hold a pleat is the problem.
When I started making kilts, I too experimented with various printed patterns on cotton or polyester/cotton fabric - besides camouflage. It's not easy to find a workable fabric with a pattern that has "eye appeal" in terms of colors and pattern size. I bought many yards of unuseable material on ebay just to find a few yards of useable stuff.

This was one of my casual, cotton kilts. The setts are not quite right, because the pleats were measured off every six inches, with two-inch reveals. Now a couple years later, if I were to do it again, the measurements would be adjusted to the pattern repeat and the kilt would be pleated to sett.
I have a few other fabrics with printed southwest patterns sitting in boxes awaiting the right time - or the right person to come along with a strong need for such.
