According to Hamish the Great, one should not wear brown accessories with the Blackwatch Kilt.

I agree with McMurdo. On Stillwater's website, they show the Black Watch worn with brown leathers, and it looks fine. In other places, however, black looks good.
In times like this, I stick to the oldest and truest of kilt wearing traditions - brown for day, black for night. (Ok, it's probably not the oldest and truest of kilt wearing traditions, but I've been on a Pirates of the Caribbean kick, so bear with me. )

I would say that if you're going to wear brown leather, make sure your hose and shirt coordinate. A tan shirt would be in keeping with a pseudo-military style, and make the brown leather work. However, if you went with a black shirt and hose, the brown leather would look completely wrong.
I have two Black Watch kilts, and I only own black leather accessories, but the two don't necessarily have anything to do with each other. I own black leather accessories because I like black leather and don't like brown leather, and I own Black Watch kilts because that's also my clan tartan (Campbell).
Wear what you want. Treat the kilt like you would pants. Make sure your colors coordinate or compliment each other, make sure your leathers all match, and make sure the outfit as a whole works. If you've done that you're good to go in my book.

I must agree with Raphael and with Hamish the Great: One should not wear brown accessories with a Black Watch...it just aint right! AND, even though we seem to be the minority opinion in this thread, I definitely vote black!!

I've not read the whole thread so this may have been mentioned but the regimental sporran is brown leather, and the Klit may also be worn with a brown Sam Browne belt

Aye -- traditionally rifle & light infantry regiments wore black leather, and the RHR is a regiment of the line, so brown is perfectly acceptable with the Government Sett, as Nervous Jock points out.
