Alright, String, I'll confess. I've put sun tan lotion or sun block lotion in my hair... Sometimes it helps when I have to go outside in the day. I mean the sun is brutal over here. So there! If String can use sun tan grease in place of bear grease, then I am an idiot told by a tail! Um... and I've used fake man made bear grease in my hair.
BTW
I brought that up to change the subject back to hair.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Sunscreen washes out better, and can be emergency detangler too. I have the kind of hair that dreadlocks in a couple days of no brushing, so I know many tricks to getting knots out.
My hair is mostly a traditional style BTW, long, rarely trimmed, and usually left to do whatever it wants as far as hair products go. The difference is that I wash it, and I keep it in a knot or a bun all the time.

Thanks for sharing that, String. My hair is very fine, but collectivly it is thick, like in a bundle or something. I can't really comb it when it is wet and I do spend time each morning, after washing it, picking knots out. I'm very pail, so try to stay out of the sun, but out here it can dammage your hair. Also, it can sunburn your scalp right through your hair if you don't wear a hat.
I've had friends that had the kind of hair that requires oiling of some sort, so I guess it isn't really weird... I hate it though when I get diatomatious earth in my hair while dusting the garden though, and the suntan lotion kind of traps it and keeps it from getting down into my scalp. I've looked into different desert plants for hair care too. I have like a bazillian aloe plants back there and some other stuff.. Kind of interesting.
