I agree with him, the Enterprise isn't dated, just because it doesn't have all kinds of things sticking out of it like today's sci-fi (such as Babylon 5). Jefferies designed her that way for a reason. We'll see how things go, it does look like she's more streamlined than the NX-01.

But, like I said before, the old girl's had a few refits in her day, and when you consider the immensity of the refit of 2270-2271 (ST:TMP), which probably replaced 90% of the ship, these things happen. In fact, since this takes place before 'Where No Man Has Gone Before', showing the ship as it was in the series would be non-canon, since she was different in 'The Cage'.
