Apart from any comment on the tartan itself, I would have to say that its name is a bit misleading, since technically it is not targeted to the general U.S. population.

Nice tartan!
Strange name though?

I like it myself, but I confess I'm disappointed with the acronym.
USA is good enough for me.

On the plus side, I guess this shows that tartan design is alive and thriving, just like when Wilson and Sons were in business. On the other hand, I wish more people would wear the USA Bicentenniel/ St. Andrews tartan. It's older, already has a history, and, to my eye, is a more complex, tartan-y(if I can coin that term) design. Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I'd love to see a resurgence in these older, fabulous tartans with American roots.
BTW, I have 2 DW yards of the American Bicentenniel in 16oz. that I'll be putting up on ebay unless someone here wants it first. Matt Newsome could turn it into a Box-Pleat like this one:

Cordially,
David

I think the name refers to a Scottish-American organization; perhaps Daniel will correct me on this.
