Yep, that's what it is - a German issue military purse or man-bag.

Sporran, it's not. Could be used for something though. Maybe to carry crayons and coloring books to school for you child?

I think that might look a but uncoordinated too.
I do like the bag, I ahve one like it, but I use it as a shoulder bag. It carries either food or art supplies.

Your post did get me thinking though, I like the strap and the material and fittings. Anyone know if there is a sporran in production made with heavy canvas and fittings like that bag?

    Its not so big....

Admire your creativity - perfect for hiking (though you'd probably soon pull it to one side) or wandering highland games where you need a lot of "stuff" and acquire a lot of "stuff" at the vendor's.

Its sooo much fun to find new stuff like that...out on the cutting edge.

I think that it iwould be better use as a Haversack than a sporran

    But to each his own

I'd use the belt and drop the bag, except for its intended use, which is a messenger bag over the shoulder. I have someting kind of similar that I use for a diaper bag when I have my granddaughter since it's not as filly as that pink thing her mother sends over.

You might find a smaller but suitable military pouch somewhere like Sportsmans Guide that would serve better.

And if I go hiking, I wear a back pack. That thing of Riverkilt's looks kind of dangerous.

Ok, I am going to go against the grain. I think it looks good, maybe I'd wear it a bit higher, but what ever is comfortable for you. I have seen several sporrans that are represented as acceptable by the rabble that are IMHO just gaudy. Go with it if you like it!

Yeah, what he said. I meant to add that on my first post, but I forgot it thinking about Riverkilt's sporran swingin' around down there. (Just joking. Actually, River's looks pretty good.)

I believer you'd like it a lot better if you pulled it up a lot higher, though.

And, I have also found that the amount of stuff you just have to carry is directly related to the amount of room in your sporran. You may end up hurting your back!
