those Irish theme pubs drive me crazy, !! Thousands of years of history, famine and troubles and it comes down to silly green hats and Shamrocks.

    Sorry for the rant

TOTALLY agree with you. I don't go to the "Irish pub" in town on St. Patrick's Day, I go to my favorite one. Good craic is more Irish than green beer and a map of Ireland on the wall.

There are many around here, unfortunately. I call them "Shamrock Sports Bars"!

What a buch of auld crabbits around here today! First Irish dirt, now Irish pubs.

Seriously, though -- there are good Irish pubs and bad Irish pubs. I've been to my fair share in St. Louis. McGurks used to be one of the best (they would even fly Irish musicians over from Ireland for the weekends), but I haven't been there in quite a long time, so I can't say how it is now.

I wouldn't judge all of them by a few. Sorta like judging all kilties!

I'll let you all in on a little secret -- Most Mexican restaurants aren't that authentic either.

    Daz,

I can't say I've ever been in an Irish pub that served green beer, St. Patrick's Day or not.
