    Hurling?

Hey lads. Anyone other hurling enthusiasts on here? I know there aren't many of us. Thought if there are we could share training tips, equipment info and the like.

Also, I need another hurley for training. If anyone wants to part with one let me know.

Not hurling, but my Gaelic tutor is trying to talk me into joining their shinty team (I'm thinking about it).

I'm a shinty player though I don't play for any set team.
Not quite the same but certainly very similar.

The bartender at Lannigan's over here by me (there's a Chicago expression) keeps a hurling stick behind the bar. One night he was tryng to get his buddy's attention so he took out a box of matchbooks and started whacking them across the room, hitting this guy in the back of his head with amazing accuracy. Quite imressive.

They field kid's teams out in the Southwest Suburbs.

There's a big GAA here in Wisconsin. I played a bit of hurling while I was in Ireland, but its too dangerous for me to play...I think I'll stick with rugby!!!

Yes, when I saw the title, at first I thought it was a warmup for St. Patrick's Day celebrations.

I see some of us have a similar sense of humor...I was thinkin':

"Well, back at Christmas 2006, all of the Sisters in the house contracted a very nasty flu bug. We were SO SICK! For an entire week"...umm, on second thought, never mind!!

    Gotta love vomit humor

Yeah, it can be tough to take a hurley to the arm/hand. Who am I kidding, it hurts anywhere you take it. Im not good enough to get too hurt. Im still learning. Leave the contested moments to the younger lads with a higher pain threshold. Didn't mind the hits when I was younger though....I miss those days. Im in my mid thirtys already...yuck.
