I didn't find their pricing much cheaper than anywhere else. There are deals to be had anywhere. I can think of one place selling 4 yard 16oz wool kilts for $199 while supply lasts.
I just found that tartanweb.com or particularly scottishkilts.net was the best fit for what I could afford (having saved up for it) and what I was looking for. Were they perfect, nope, but no one is. Damn fine product and good service. I have exchanged numerous emails and phone calls with a few of them and I was always impressed with their level of service and the final product.
I have a five-yard kilt from them that's very well made and comfy. The only caveat is that they don't do the first pleat from the apron as a double-reverse pleat (if that's the correct term)...the pleats just begin right there at the apron. Not that that's a bad thing...but if you are used to having the extra fabric there, you will notice it.
