I've had a pair of those from Higgins. It didn't take terribly long to wear out the acrylic yarn.
And the weave on the foot portion was done a bit wide, so I had to wear running socks so they'd be comfortable.
I don't believe acrylic will accept many, if any dyes.
I've stuck with wool hosiery ever since.
