    I've had a pair of those from Higgins. It didn't take terribly long to wear out the acrylic yarn.

    And the weave on the bottom foot portion was done a bit wide, so I had to wear running socks so they'd be comfortable. Standing in them for a few hours was unpleasant w/o the socks.

    I don't believe acrylic will accept many, if any dyes.

    I've stuck with wool hosiery ever since.

    I've been really happy with my Pipers hose. They are 70% wool and 30% nylon. They don't have any cabling but they have a nice textured cuff at the top and the leg is very thick. They are worth a look.
