I'm keen to know myself, I am considering a Nightstalker as my next SWK and I am after a "Dark" myself.

It definitely couldn't hurt to contact SWK and ask about the tartan colors when you're ready or interested in ordering one. I've had to contact them a couple times between yesterday and today (my first time actually emailing them to ask about a product) and they were very quick to reply. It can be so hard to shop online (I've always been the sort who preferred buying in person), so having someone who will answer my questions helps me make that final decision

I'd say just go for it. It was Brian (BeeDee)'s pics that convinced me to take the plunge after me bothering Jerry endlessly with questions about the grey:black ratio. I'm very glad I went for the Nightstalker now

It may just be the lighting in the photo on the so-called "light" ones.

Wool? Are you sure? I thought the SWK Nightstalker was only made in the standard range.

If you looked at the 3rd picture I posted in my review thread, you'd see I magically switched my light Nightstalker tartan for a dark one. This picture is of the same kilt, but even after I used a filter to lighten it for visability.

Lol. I'm telling you, it's just the camera. If you look at the first picture of my kilt in this thread, you'll see that my couch is glowing.

I promise you my couch does not glow in real life. This tartan (as well as a lot of things) looks different in every picture I've seen of it and I can't understand why. Some pictures like the one on the SWK website even make it look like there's color in it. Weird. But it's all dark, black and slightly less dark grey. Sometimes the grey catches the light, and sometimes saturated light makes it looked a bit colored. But it's all the same. It's a very dark tartan and it's very handsome. There's just enough variation in the colors that people know it's a plaid.
Also, mine is a custom kilt that's pleated to the stripe, so the pattern is different in the back.
