Thank you Matt for posting this I know we have been working hard to make a kilt kamp available again this year. To be able to offer a Kilt Kamp on the East Coast every other year was something we envisioned from the first.

For those who don't remember, the first annual Kilt Kamp was held in June of 2007 here at Freedom Kilts. Here are some teaser shots of the gang who were able to join us.

Any time you have someone of Barb's caliber teaching, you know it is not an opportunity to be missed.

If you can't make it for the full weeks course by Barb, at least plan to come for the Friday and Saturday seminars. I, of course, will be there teaching and answering questions for those who would like to try their hand at Contemporary Kiltmaking. I'm sorry I won't be able to pack my 85 lb. industrial sewing machine in my suitcase but I'll have kilts in various stages of construction for you to look at and will set aside time to help with your project and answer any questions you have. If you would like to bring your in-work kilt and your sewing machine there will be space to set up and I will be available with hints and tips on machine sewn kiltmaking.

But the big draw for the weekend with be the opportunity to meet Barb and Matt, tour the Museum, enjoy the Taste of Scotland Festival, and get inspiration and help from these two renown kiltmakers.

Barb and Gordon Kirkbright of Fraser & Kirkbright Weaving discuss the newly delivered X Marks Tartan.

You get as much one-on-one instruction from Barb as you need.

And even us old guys can learn something from Barb. Here I am asking her and Way2fractious what all the funny foldy parts are called.

If you have ever dreamed of making your own kilt this will be the one event you do not want to miss.

Well, we're going to be finishing up at the University of Cincinnati on June 12 or so. We are very likely to come. Give us a few days to think it over.

And I so wanted to go too...

Unfortunately, I have already submitted my vacation bid for this year and it does not happen to include that week or I would be attending. I wonder if I could get away with calling in sick for a week... I can see it now, "Why are you calling in sick from an 828 area code?" dang caller ID.

If we can get some dates set up early enough I'll be able to attend next year.

I will be bolting last-minute stuff onto the boat and hyperventilating at this point.

    *sigh*

Some have asked about airport locations close to Franklin, NC.

If you are fortunate enough to have your own small private plane that you can fly in on your own (you do have your own private plane, right?), you can fly right into the Macon County airport, only minutes away from downtown Franklin.

If you are one of the poor, unwashed masses (those poor masses...) who have to take (gasp!) a commercial flight, the closest airport is in Asheville, NC, which is about a 1 to 1.5 hour drive away, depending on what traffic is like near the airport.

However, if you are willing to drive a little further, sometimes you can get better rates if you fly into Atlanta (about a 2 hour drive), or Charlotte (about a 3 hour drive).

Huh, that's funny. Charlotte is in the same state, yet it takes longer than coming from Georgia..go figure.

than again, Charlotte traffic is a mess...
