    Teenagers...

Congrats on hitting the public in your kilt! Your right, if you seem confident in it, people dont react so much. The Nightstalker is a sweet one, I had one from SWK that I really enjoyed.

Like you though, I still get teenagers snickering sometimes. I'll generally point to their jeans and say "How cute, you've all got on matching bottoms"!

My experience overall though has been very positive and like most everyone else on this board, I dress for me. For those who can't get past the guy in the kilt because they've never seen it before? Well, I feel sorry for them and suspect the amount of things they've never seen could fill a warehouse! Im certainly no world traveler or very well read but Id hate to think the most outrageous thing I'll ever see is a guy in a UK at Walmart.

    Alex!

You have to have a pair..... I cut hair for a living. I wore my kilt to work for the first time on Tues. But most people really don't think anything of me doing it. I have a mohawk and a full redbeard. and full sleeve tattoos. I wore a black navel sweater my black watch, kilt black leather shoes. it looked good together. I got nothing but good feed back from my clients. My wife made me wear underwear though, because the girls that I work with lifted my kilt several time.

On our way to the checkout, one of them said 'I like your kilt' in a smart-alec kind of way. My reply was 'You should do, I bought it here' and walked away. Hopefully that's confused them a little!

    That's an awesome comeback!

Glad you got up the courage to wear it out. There is no stopping you now. From males I only have trouble from adults. The kids think it's cool. Once, while parking my Vespa I got a "A kilt. That ROCKS, dude."

One day during our summer holidays last year in Switzerland close to the Italian border I had been doing some shopping with my wife – I wearing shorts. Somewhere she had tried on a skirt. Having come back to our apartment she regretted not having bought it and when I a couple of hours later was going into town – now kilted - she asked me if I would buy it for her. I knew the size, where it was etc.
The correct size had been sold out, it seemed but with help from a shop assistant I succeeded to get one. Handing it to me she gave me a second glance or perhaps two of them. Then she asked: “Are you sure about the size, sir?” And with a quick turn of her head she pointed to the fitting rooms.
Obviously her trained eye had told her that it might be on the small side for me to wear.
“I am”, I answered. “My wife has tried it on less than three hours ago, and she hasn’t gained or lost weight that much that it won’t fit her anymore.”
“O but fine”, she answered and looked delighted. “Card or cash, sir?”
Could it be because of my kilt? Or is it that men simply don’t buy skirts, not even for their wives? Or especially not for their wives?
I found the episode rather amusing.
