kilted amongst the living today
Well I finally did it today. After making one or two sneaky little outings with family and friends by night, I finally went out kilted amongst the living today. We had to take our 6 month old daughter for her jabs so went there first then my lovely wife decided it was shopping trip time so did Best Buy and Wal Mart in my Nightstalker, Nightstalker sporran and black t-shirt. I also made the last minute decision to go regimental and all I can say is Wow! I got the occasional double take (ok, the wife tells me that 95% of people gave me double takes) and had three oh-so-cool teenage boys giving a little snigger but I'm well and truly hooked on going out kilted now. I guess what helped me was acting like I do it every day and not looking to see what other people's reactions were.
It was definitely a different experience (and more enjoyable in its own way) than just wearing my kilt for an evening get-together

You always remember your first time... ...kilted. ![Wink](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
Acting like you wear a kilt everyday was a good attitude to take. Pretty soon, as you start wearing your kilt(s) regularly (daily), you won't need to act, it'll be normal for you. ![Cool](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_cool.gif)
Rock on!

That's great advice! And to everyone else - many thanks for your support. Reading experiences and ideas on XMTS helped me no end - a big part of what helped me go out kilted was the idea I've read many times on here that if men sit around waiting for kilts to be the 'norm' then it's never going to happen.
And as for the teenage idiots - I found it ironic that I could be sniggered at while wearing a masculine and smart item of clothing when the three of them were in oversize shirts, baggy pants showing their underwear and baseball caps on sideways a la Kevin the Teenager
