As always, these replies make me proud to be kilted in public. The X Marks community ROCKS!

Funny that, outside of these forums, the bad comments usually come from men but the compliments are from the ladies

Maybe he thought it was one clan badge too many? Ah, that's probably giving him to much credit, that he was thinking, I mean.

Wear what you like, at least until you run into a guy that has one of these:

    Best regards,

You look fine to me, although the sporran looks a little low.

Do you wear the Jacobite shirt everyday?

Indeed...and I even know a couple from the Highlands (born & bred) who wear them daily.
As a "hat guy" (kilted or not) I could care less what anyone thinks

As for Ardchoille, I think you ran into one of those poor miserable wretches in life that I call "know it all's", who in fact actually know nothing

& might I add you wear it well sir!

I don't wear these shirts everyday, but I do have more of them than any other type of shirt - they are the most comfy shirt I've found.

I'd say you look great, and phooey on them. Yes, the sporran could be a little higher, but other than that, and that's a minor thing, you look terrific.

Everyone knows the kilt police are too busy using their curved mirrors to check underkilt compliance to look at your headgear. ;)

Yeah, you do look sharp. And I agree, those Jacobite shirts (is that one of Buzz's?) are about as comfortable as shirts come.

Personally, unless I'm going for some sort of historic look at a scottish event (at which time, I wear this great broad bonnet that Matt hooked me up with), I just wear a ball cap... in fact, I almost always wear a ball cap, kilt or no... I really only take it off in the shower. It's all about what you're comfortable in.

I say most people just have too darn many rules, come to the kilt. To me, as long as everything tones well enough, and you're not wearing a swingin' six with a stained wife-beater and platform shoes, you should just let your concience (or fashion sense of humor, as I call it) be your guide.

I shudder to imagine what the kilt police would think of me, sometimes. Acceptable attire? Every once in a while? Why not?

Ah! So, you're THAT guy eh?? I recognize the picture from a post in Matt's blog. It's all about being comfortable in what you're in, my friend.
