    Interesting....
I have always been taught to tip dependent upon the quality of service given.
Give me poor service then don't expect much of (if any) a tip. It's like anything else in life, you reap what you sow

Jeez... You know, you could tip everyone you saw in a day based on some of these lists. Though I'm glad to see that they draw the line at Starbucks.

Anyway, a tattoo artist seems to be someone providing a very personal service, like a barber or a masseuse or what have you. And unlike a bad haircut, the tattoo won't go away. So, I think you certainly tip.

I always tip for personal services like massages, tattoos, haircuts, and pedicures. I figure the price is for an adequate looking/feeling service and it it looks or feels good then a tip is a way of showing them that you appreciate the fact that they didn't flinch when they had to touch your nasty body. I also tip serving staff because our wage system is specifically designed so that they depend on them. I do NOT, however, put money in those ubiquitous tip jars that seem to be popping up every time you go anywhere. Other than those listed above, nobody who makes over minimum wage needs a tip just for doing their job.

I totally agree with you. I dont understand those tip jars. No one is tipping me while I run all over the hotel taking them extra towels, pillows, blankets. . . .ITS MY JOB.
