That new size looks more balanced. ![Cool](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_cool.gif)
Both my ears are pierced (only your normal gauge) but they never heal up even if I don't have anything in them for long periods. I guess with the larger gauge piercings which involve stretching don't completely return to normal either.

Mine healed over and I don't think you can even tell they were pierced. Probably wern't pierced long enough because I had to stop wearing the earrings later on in that year, A highschool issue. It was just regular sized earrings too. I'm thinking about having them re-pierced. Guess I'm not really interested in having my own ear lobes stretched, though.

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

I don't get the stretching in the first place. But, that's just me. There's a lot of folks who don't understand why I don't feel like scraping a blade across my face everyday.I understand piercing in general-in fact, I have my left ear pierced-five times- but I never had the urge to stretch at all. Although the looks I get from my cartilage piercing (when I can wear it- I have an allergy to metal and can only wear earrings for a very short time anymore without my left ear resembling a giant red balloon adhered to my head) are absolutely priceless.
Congrats on it getting to where you wanted it. I'm glad you didn't need surgery to get what you wanted. Here's hoping you never do.

Stretching one's earlobes is just another form of self expression. It is no different than tats, branding or any other type of body art. Personally, I started stretching my earlobes years back because NOBODY in my hometown did that kind of thing and I liked the way it looked. It was unique and different. I didnt go as big as TB, but I think that he looks good with his. Different horses ya know.

Brad,
I went from a 00 gauge down to 10 gauge ..it just takes time....leave the smaller ones you have in for a while and if you decide to move down further they may shrink even more. You are younger than me so your elasticity is probably better. I miss mine sometimes and have considered stretching up again.

I'm curious Brad,
What kind of accessories do you choose from when dressing to different levels of formality? Is a wooden theme appropriate for formal evening wear? Do you change <earrings?> with outfits?
Cheers,
Kevin....who only wears his wife's single studs with evening/dinner dress...

Ah, I wasn't trying to imply that there was anything wrong with it, just that I personally did not understand that particular body mod. Of course it's horses for courses. I've done scarification, and I have a tat-in addition to the piercings I already mentioned. Whatever someone wants to do, it's their body. I mean, I don't understand why those folks in Africa that stretch their lips do that either, but I wouldn't dream of knocking it. (Although I do wonder how they eat and drink comfortably.)

I know you werent criticizing it. I was just explaining my view of stretching and why I did it. I hope my post didnt sound like an attack, it was not not meant to be one.

That's the first time I've heard that song using the word "ears."
