Thanks! I think I'm more inclined to stick to a smart, casual look rather than formal or tour t-shirt, although that's just my personal preference of course. Glad I don't seem to have done anything wrong so far (I even made sure I can get just three fingers between belt and sporran, lol)

You wear your personal preference well. No need to change, do as you like. Don't worry about making mistakes. The kind folks here are very positive in their advice. We all are leaners, some are just ahead of us!

Well done, SB! When you've been to Wal-mart kilted, you can go anywhere.

On our way home from the Verde Valley Highland Games yesterday afternoon (Camp Verde, AZ) wife and I did our monthly Costco quest for mass quantities. I saw a few surprised looks as we rounded a couple corners, but mostly it was my wife who felt uncomfortable with all the strange looks that I did not see, since people made the effort to look when I wasn't. I got even more when I ran into a hunting/fishing store for ten minutes after leaving Costco, but the best was the dazed and confused response from the girl at the In-and-Out Burger drive-thru window when whe looked down into my car to see me kilted and fumbling through my sporran to put my change away----she forgot half my order.

Today is Tartan Day a national celebrated day here in the US that celebrates the contribution of the Scottish Americans to the foundation of our country. Billy, check out at your local library Born Fighting by Jim Webb. Webb writes about the character of the Scots and Scots Irish that have developed much of the American personality and growth. If you can’t find it, PM me your address and I’ll mail you my copy.
Most of the southerners that you encounter in WS are from this kilted ancestry –how ironic!
I do, too and I am proud of my southern heritage and the Scottish, Irish and English blood that flow through my veins.

Thanks for that, Ern! I'll definitely check that out. I've just sent you a PM relating to this kind of thing though. Ironically for Tartan Day, I've decided to give up kilts and XMTS. I'll just be tying up some loose ends over the next hour or two
Thanks for all your kind input, advice and stories. It's gents like you that I'll miss.
