If you want to *really* crank out a beauty, order Barbara Tewksbury's book.
"The Art of Kiltmaking".
It's fifteen bucks, jammed with information, spiral bound so that it lies flat on your sewing table, and ten times over worth the price!
Freedom Kilts, that advertises here, sells it. You can also order it directly from Celtic Dragon Press.

If you go Direct, Barb will scribble in it for you too !
That alone makes it worth twice the cover price.
CT - hey, that sorta rhymes

Well done on the kilts. We want to see pictures (of course).

IN the second printing now, it's about $40 delivered, and still worth ten times that. Celtic Dragon Press

One small pic in an album under my forum name. But I can't attach directly to posts -- is there a newbie waiting period for that privilege? I don't see it mentioned in forum rules or welcome e-mail. Oh well, time to dash off and pick Mother up from the train, get back to the denim job tonight (waistband is on and finished inside, left to do is finishing lining, fraying fringe, making and attaching belt loops, attaching buckle and strap, and [cheat for a casual kilt] Velco closure).
Thanks again for all the hospitality!

Welcome from Richmond, VA! I too can recommend Barb's book. I just received a copy to study up on for my first kilt making project and feel much more confident after reading through this well done book.

Having browsed the "kiltmakers" portion of this forum, I've just placed my order for the "one book that rules them all"
K3 will be a Black Watch which I'd thought to pleat to the stripe. Already printing off kiltmaker posts for future reference!

In your album you state that nobody knows the ID on that tartan. Post a close-up pic here and I bet you will get an ID, or at least an affirmation that it is not a registered tartan.

Thanks, I've posted in the "Heraldry and Tartans" forum here:
