    some rectification and thanks

    First, I would like to thank You all for your encouraging words.
    Brian, I made some rectification on the sporran belt and dirk.
    It's probably still not up to standard but at least there is no more bad taste mistaking. Thanks again.
    And BTW, the mackenziefrain site is simply amazing !

    So here is what I've done with a simple "medieval type" belt:

    That looks absolutely smashing. I have only seen the dirks mounted on the hip. Not sure where they were worn though.

    Rob,

    Well done! Looks much better with the leather sporran strap. And, I see that the dirk is actually hanging in a long frog from the waistbelt, not the sporran strap. Good! Hanging it to the right of the sporran, as you have done, is the position most seen in period images and portraits....

    Hand pleated or otherwise a real plaid looks best to me.
