    Talking

    Thanks for the replies, everyone!

And thanks for all of the tips. I do remember seeing a thread about the Stillwater pleat problem. Mine especially is pronounced because of how it's been folded in the bag. I really do need to give it a light pressing.

SteveB, thanks for the detailed reply. Very fascinating about the kilts that ride up like that. I was a little surprised at the feel of the waist band support area of the Thrifty compared to the Standard. I'm definitely looking forward to getting a kilted skirt made for me. I also look forward to the day we can get Christopher a nicer kilt (or more) as well as a few more SWK Standards (he loves that Nightstalker tartan). That would be an especially nice gift to himself once he finishes losing weight

    It looks good!

I've generally ignored St. Patrick's Day since high school (except when corned beef and cabbage was on the menu ), but now you've got me thinking about what tartan I should wear for the occasion next year. (I hope I'll be kilted by then. )

I commented on your LJ already, but I wanted to say again that you and Christopher both look fantastic.
Well done on getting a great kilt and putting together a fantastic outfit!

Plus, with your sewing skills I'm sure you'll be able to alter the top of it to fit you a bit better!

Thanks! And yeah, you'll have to get a kilt to wear for St. Patrick's Day... gotta be prepared for any occasion ;) Seriously though, a SWK Irish National would be a great choice if you were nervous about wearing anything nice. Plus, they're so affordable! And I'm sure you'll be kilted well before then!

Thanks for the replies, Arlen! I'm not sure if I will try to make any adjustments to the kilt. With that... papery stiffener in the waistband, I'm now wondering if that's just what it will do every time I sit regardless of fitting it to my figure. Otherwise, it's not so bad. We'll see. I'm going to give it some time, even washing it a few times (when it needs it, of course) and see what I should do with it.

Can't wait to wear it out! Not to mention shop for some more tops... and gee... I guess this means I should go out looking for some boots and other shoes. ;)

I've always been on the fence about the Irish National tartan (Irish ancestry, but not a huge fan of the tartan), but I must say, it looks great on you. You two make quite the kilted couple.

I got a thrifty for my cousin's first kilt, and he loves it. I have also noticed that all my Stillwaters need the first pleat to be adjusted (read re-pressed).

You look GREAT, both of you!

    WOOOO-HOOOO!

hey seamstress, a couple of darts in the apron....unstitch the waistband first of course...would take care of some of those above-the-waist issues

but the black top, black shoes and kilt....SWEET.

Oh, and the hair doesn't hurt either! LOL I freely admit that I'm a gigantic fan of long hair.
