So on the issue of western style with a kilt, check this guy at the San Antonio Highland Games this year.

There are a lot of guys dressed like this at the Texas Scottish Festival in Arlington. Maybe I've gotten used to the look, but I have no issue with it. I see it as a blending of cultures.
