Perhaps Hamish and Ancienne Alliance could be the judges. Hamish with his museum quality collection and Ancienne Alliance with his personal kiltmaker would have too much of an advantage to compete.

    Greg,

    To be serious

I am not the biggest fan of such contests.

We are all here because we like kilts (traditional and modern) and things Celtic. We aren't here to compete, we are here to share, learn, and laugh a bit in good company.

It doesn't matter if you have 1 kilt or almost a hundred (yes, I'm looking at you your Lairdship! ). It doesn't matter if you look better than another one of the Ladies or Gentlemen on X Marks the Scot. It doesn't matter what kilt and kit you can afford.

Here it's about you looking your best and feeling good about wearing your kilt.

I started a thread here for all our members to post their own personal best picture of themselves:

    http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/b...954/index.html

There are lots of different takes on the kilt here, but I can honestly say that everyone who contributed to it looks great.

These pictures are the ones that make each person feel good about themselves.

And that's definately for the best!

    Cheers

    Jamie

If you don't want to enter, you don't have to. I just wanted to do this for fun.

Sounds like a good idea on paper, but in reality, it wouldn't be 'fair' as it has been noted, there are a few with large amounts of VERY NICE accessories and entire outfits.

So, it would inevitably narrow to those few, with everyone else trying to catch up.

    I’m with the hesitant.
Everything does not need to be a competition.
Labeling winners is nice. Labeling losers is not.
I think that there would be “level playing field” issues and “unintended consequences” issues.

I'm afraid that I have to weigh in against on this one. Too many folks (in society in general ) take these things WAY too seriously. A harmless bit of innocent fun can too often spiral into a mess.

It's indeed a unique idea. But, being in a mod seat, I see way too many potential problems with this one. I see no beneficial gain from it.

I was thinking that same thing.

I'm up for this. Let's do it! It could be fun!

The pure play value, man! It's like a virtual bonnie knees contest! With no indecent exposure... I hope!

Or here's another idea- we could pick a theme, such as the thing that Captain Morgan is doing with their pose off competition. Best drunken sea captain, most likely to impale himself with a sword, that kind of thing! Maybe not a best kind of thing- a "who can show us who's having the most kilted" kind of thing. "Hey, look at the fish hook that stuck in my rump today!" That kind of thing. That would certainly level the playing field a bit.
