Or your shoestrings, a simple pocket comb, an average sized key ring (5-6 keys) on a lanyard - or even a single large car key! Just about anything can be turned into a weapon if you really wanted to. People can be devilishly clever when they perceive a need.
I can see it now, in the future there will be no carry-ons at all, and all passengers will have to change into hospital gowns (talk about a kilt check! ) or scrubs with those little booties and have their street clothes hermetically sealed and tagged by security before boarding.
J/k, but there probably are some in the security arena who would go that far if they had their way.
