I had not seen this tartan before. I think Mr. Theige looks grand in his Confederate Memorial Tartan.
I know I would like to have either a shawl or skirt and shawl of this...even a scarf. My sisters and I have talked of joining the Daughter's of the Confederacy (as we are qualified) but just haven't done it yet. What a wonderful way to honor our Confederate ancestors. It's a lovely tartan.

My wife also is eligible for the Daughters, so had thought of looking into one of each for our son, as to honor both sides. (Each of us had an ancestor at the battle of New Orleans, on opposite sides mind you...)

I'm going to assume this is acrylic as Dalgliesh and Strathmore have exclusive rights to weave Confederate Memorial in wool.
Likewise, a quick perusal of the Frugal Corner's site reveals Bright Skye (a.k.a Isle of Skye, copyrighted and woven exclusively by Lochcarron and Marton Mills), Pride of Scotland (woven exclusively by Lochcarron), and New World Celt (a copyrighted tartan). Things to think about.

The New World Celt tartan was designed by the International President's son and given to us to have woven for them. If you are suggesting that we are using the NEW WORLD CELT name/tartan without permission i suggest you contact their international president in Florida and find out the FACTS.

Dear Tattoo Bradley
When the good folks at xmarks started talking about trademark, registered, restricted, copyrighted tartans, we engaged a wonderful patent trademark firm here in the twin cities that has associates in the UK. At $450 an hour they were very helpful
We have only had one inquiry/complaint from a UK based weaver in the five years we have been doing business. The matter was settled almost 2 years ago - I believe to the satisfaction of both parties.
While some folks on this board may feel free to make accusations and take wild guess about what the law says or even what is going on behind the scenes, I as a company owner do not feel this same freedom - because it is never wise to do so.
While we have access to many tartans, I can tell you that we will never advertise for sale the Irish National (out of respect for SWK), the Balmoral tartan, Cameron of Lochiel, and a few others. Short of that, we will sell what we have access to unless prohibited by law or tradition.
So back to the NWC tartan - can we say for sure now that the post about this and the hint we were ILLEGALLY making it was INCORRECT.
And as to the Confederate Memorial - I did a lot of research on this and to my knowledge it is in no way restricted and we were asked by memebers of the SOC to make it affordable for them - If you can show me that it is illegal for us to be doing this in arcrylic we will cease at once.
Does anybody here think that our Bright Skye looks anything like IOS?

Funny, Frugal Corner advertised it as "Isle of Skye" until the questions quickly started being asked. It was very shortly there after that FC changed the name to "Bright Skye." So, apparently someone saw it similar enough, at least at some point, to name it the same. And, yes, the sett appears to be the same... regardless of the "brightness" of the hues.
I only asked about the Isle of Skye and the Pride of Scotland tartans, because they were also addressed in the post you chose to respond to, yet they were ignored in favor of the one tartan you were proud to say was legally produced. Seems the question still hasn't been answered...
