Any of these looks should work, Ron, the dark green hose in the first photo balance the brightness of the tartan.
I've just been out to my first Christmas lunch of the season today at a local hotel with our local carers group and I wore my xmarksthescot tartan kilt with a blue shirt and blue hose, which was very well received and is another possible combination you could consider for another party.

I usually wear my Scott Red MUTED around the holidays... I like the look.

I think if Santa had to pick a kilt, that's what he'd pick.

You have good taste, it is the overdone that makes the eyeballs ache! Like the kilt in red and green with metallic over check! I actually saw one of these a few years back. (Had to have Cataract Surgery the following spring. Cause to effect? )

But what happens when it's in the same tartan? How are you to dress in 'daywear' with a red/green tartan without green hose and jacket / vest?

I agree about not going 'over the top' when it comes to red / green clothing (or color matching other holidays for that matter), but I personally LOVE my Scott Red Muted with lovat green hose and my lovat green vest (& white shirt). That's just my $.02

You look sharp in every pic I've seen you in, so go with whatever you think you look sharp in.

Upon making the decision to wear my Macduff Red Modern to sing at midnight Mass for Christmas, it occurred to me that the two dominant colors are red and green. I can her it already -- "Oh, look at his Christmas kilt."
