Knitting: my new addiction
So I recently taught myself how to knit. After a couple of simple scarves, I jumped to making socks. They were meant to be a birthday gift so I really needed to do a good job of it.
Here are some pictures that I'd like to share with my socks appreciating kilt brothers & sisters...
These are made with nice, soft and warm 100% merino wool -- they can only be handwashed and air-dried. I'm sure you can send them for dry-cleaning too. lol.

(I can't wait to get started on the kilt hose -- my original motivation for learning knitting)

Are you attempting to create some new torture device in picture 2? Nice job on the socks. Waiting for the pics of kilt hose.

Cool, good luck.
I actually got a couple of books the other day about knitting on circle looms, but I haven't looked them over yet.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

LOL. Oh I'm sorry that I showed pictures of sock torture without 'splaining them. ![Embarassed](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_redface.gif)
Those bright orange things are double-pointed needles ("dpns") used to construct the socks with. [Yes needles, pointed at both ends!!!] That's only one of the several ways to torture, er, make socks.
My other addiction is kilt making... check out my photo album on here under my profile...

Nice looking socks! I'm almost finished with my red kilt hose.
Might I suggest that in the next pair you work the sole of the foot in purl 4, knit 2 ribbing? It makes the sole of the sock thicker and much more comfortable to wear.
Now you see why handknit articles are a bit expensive. And worth every penny.

Good job. From watching my wife knit I know how much time the socks must have taken to complete.

piperdbh & standard, thanks.
an acquaintance of mine, after seeing these socks, fell in love with them and asked that I make a pair for her. It's put me in a quandary --- socks require a lot of time, those tiny stitches, and can't really charge her a lot. So it's a labor of love.

Thanks Ted...
I'm learning to make two socks on two circular needles. I hope to apply it to kilt hose...
Good luck with your loom!

ahh P4K2 for the sole -- a very good idea, I can already feel its cushioning effect!
Looking forward to see your red kilt hose.
I'm on Ravelry by the way. Are you on there as well? I'll PM you.
