Just this Wednesday, I found myself at Walden Galleria in Buffalo, NY wearing my Utilikilt, T-shirt, jacket and boots. The temperature was running down into the teens. It was a fine time, except for all the Buffalonians.

But those weren't Buffalonians - they were from Toronto.
They drove past me on their way there, as I stood by the bridge in the cold (which wouldn't have been so bad, if I could wear a kilt to work).

My basement has a roughly partitioned room in it that (decades ago) was a home photography lab. Now it’s “Dad’s Den”.
The good news: That room has a heat vent. Not as cozy as the upstairs parts of the house, but warn enough.
The bad news: My home furnace broke on New Year’s Day! Fortunately I have a good service contract and so the repair was made within a few hours. The furnace works better than ever.
Tonight I’m down in that lab while doing some laundry, some basement cleaning, some web surfing, and soon some guitar picking. Oh yeah and a little whisky drinking.
Told you all tha’ to tell you this…
I’m very comfortable in my Celtic Croft Economy kilt – Scott Brown Hunting Modern (the “Tunes of Glory” tartan).

Well ... I didn't mean YOU, Wompet! I remember meeting you, and concluding that you were not the "drinking-town-with-a-football-problem" kind of guy I'm used to in Buffalo.

With the exchange rate "correcting," the Torontons will thin out. I'm pretty sure those were Buffalonians at the mall that day, judging by the amount of cackling (to my back, never to my face).

Well, I got a couple of UK's right around Xmas, & I've been wearing them to work everyday since. I intend to abandon the use of trousers. So far, even with Vancouver's relatively crappy weather, it's been okay.

I've had a few questions about whether I'm cold or not, but not much else.

And I refer to Vancouver's lousy weather as relative because I'm not originally from here, and I acknowledge that the rest of the country has far colder conditions.

Although I would like to point out that Vancouver's winter humidity is a mitigating factor. One Xmas a few years back, I flew from Vancouver to northern BC - the temperature in Vancouver was in the single digits (celcius), but above freezing. I got to northern BC and the temperature was around -15 Celcius, and it felt warmer up there than it did in Vancouver. The winter humidity makes it bite around here.

I wear my Utilikilts to shovel snow and dink around. I spent all day yesterday using the old sno-knife to clear my roof wearing my Workman. The only problem is when I step in the deep snow and I sink up to the nether regions. Other than that i stay fairly comfortable.

When the weather turns out here the heavy weights come out. The only time I can wear one of my SWK's is when the sun is out and the solar energy warms you up even though the temps be in the teensF or lower. Otherwise I'll starp on "The Beast" and stay toasty. 16 oz'ers for the inside the house and for steppin' out.
