    Inn Signs of Britain

In our recent discussion of the "Glorious Glosters" (The GLOUCESTERSHIRE Regiment), I mentioned to Jock Scott that I had seen a pub sign that honoured the Glosters. Whilst searching for that particular pub, I found a great site devoted to British pub signs:

    http://www.innsignsociety.com/

Are there any other pub/inn sign aficionados on the board?

I have a list of pubs that have Sherlock on their signs at home. I have been meaning to pick up some repos of them. You can find many repo of pub signs for good prices on e-bay. The come in all sizes too.
    Great site Todd,

Pub and inn signs are something we really take for granted - my local is 'The Victoria Cross', and it has a sign showing the cross and a British Tommy.

The sign has been changed several times since we arrived here some 30 years ago, and it is no longer the sort of place I would go - the music is too loud and the beer too artificial, but maybe a new landlord will come along..

It would be interesting to know if the name of your local is in memory of a local who was awarded the VC.

Sadly, "genuine" public houses here in the states are few & far between. Two that I like to frequent whilst I am in St. Louis are:
