    Tin Signs

I saw these two tin signs at the Pub bellow Willies in Manhattan KS; wish I could put these in my pub.

I saw a bunch of these reproduced at a local swap meet a couple of months ago. So someone has found old masters or has re-done them. I don't know where you would be able to find them. The guy that was selling them had beer, booze, milk, veggy, oil and many other different types.

I wasn't in the market for a sign like this, so I didn't get any info. But at least now you know that they are in current production somewhere.

I have a friend who runs a bar, who may have a catalog of these things as I know he has purchased reproductions of other items that he hung around.

I'll ask him the next time I'm in his place.

That second one hangs in the men's room at The Duke of Perth here in Chicago.

Right above the * amenity * to be precise. I've stared at it several times.

I've seen tin plate repros at flea markets and such. Never looked for beer or alchol signs only old British bikes but I'm sure they'd have a few of the former.

That tradition was stopped some time ago in the British Royal Navy.

Alcohol is strictly forbidden aboard American Naval vessels, except under very rigidly defined circumstances.

I remember when I was stationed in Verona Italy with a NATO unit, and at lunch we would have a glass or two of wine and on Fridays we would stroll downtown and have pizza and beer int: , those were the days and no one ever abused the privileges, except when we had special office parties.
