Todd,
You would like this one. It's one of our favorites when we are in London.

Now the question is Frank: Do they serve Bishop's Finger and/or Abbot Ale at the Mitre?

Have had "several" pints there over the decades that I lived in Ireland/worked in England. But like Todd said, the day is coming when they will all be owned by Witherspoons (or some such) and turned into themed "quaint" pubs. SIGH***

Ha, ha -- to tell you the truth, I don't remember. Whatever I've had there it's been good -- food and drink.

Anne, do you happen to know if the Black Bear near Wool is still open?

It's great to see. Their are so many interesting pud names and signs over their. Unfortunately they are thin on this side of the pond. And certainly none of the history

I love the artwork on many of the pub signs!
When my brother and I were small and we were on a car journey, we played a game we called "Pub Cricket."
Each of us had one side of the road and any pubs we passed that had something with legs in the title we scored runs and if it didn't we lost a wicket.
eg Fox and Grapes was four runs and Coach and Horses was eight runs and The Lord Nelson was two runs.
I was always hoping to see a pub called The Centipede Inn!

Isn't that the Hall and Woodhouse pub in the High Street? - If so then yes I think it is still there. It is not a place I visit more than twice a year at the most.

Thanks Anne. I haven't been there for a while but it's nice to know it's still up and running! I believe I still have a Loonie on their currency map...
