You would think a Pub would be a good place, however you have to be careful with drunks so choose the pub wisely if that is to be your destination. Perhaps you can see if there are any Scottish events or some such thing in your area, or perhaps a kilt night if you know anyone else in your area that wears a kilt. Sometimes there is strength in numbers, barring all that, I'd say just strap it on and go about your regular business, remember to look as if there is nothing wrong, hold your head high, I've found this works for me and I've been kilted full time for going on 3 years now.
